Eco- Conscious can’t just be for the hippies of the world.

It’s just too important.

  • We need everyone putting in at least a minimal effort to live more sustainable and environmentally responsible lifestyles.
  •  We need to start adopting practices, and choose products that are better for the earth.
  •  We need everyone to start changing up the way we do things, the way we make things, the way we buy things.

And I want to be a part of the solution!

But why does all the eco-stuff gotta look so… blah?

As a former entertainment writer-turned stay-at-home-mom, I’ve straddled the worlds of PRETTY and PURPOSE, and I see a gap.

We love style for a reason.

It’s a reflection of who we are, and tells a story about us before we even open our mouths.

Cultures across the world and throughout time have adorned themselves, their homes and their belongings.

It’s just part of who we are.

So of course, looking nice is a factor in what we value and spend our money on. 

For me, the moment my passion for environmental stewardship collided with my need to look cute was crystalized in a single moment, where I caught a glimpse of myself in the sliding glass doors as I entered a grocery store.

In my arms was a collection of bags made from…I’m not sure what material…crinkly, branded… functional, yes…but ugly.

‘Dang! Can’t I be cute AND conscious’!?

It was at that moment that I realized something needed to happen in the world of eco-friendly products.

I don’t think eco-friendly is in danger of going anywhere, because we actually NEED to be moving in that direction, but I think that a lot more people would get on board if the products also catered to a clientele that values aesthetics as well as ethics.

There’s no need to lose any of the sustainable, or environmentally responsible aspects.

Many shoppers would actually love to help the cause, and totally would…if it just came in another style.

So if this shopper simply needs some design thrown in there….what’s the hold up?!

Of course there is a real answer to this.

Demand needs to grow in order for the market to grow…but the market can’t grow until the demand grows.

Kind of a catch 22.

It necessitates early adopters to step out to help build this market and for brands to take a leap of faith that their customers would actually choose a more environmentally responsible choice if given the option. 

I personally think there is a customer base just waiting for this middle space to erupt.

Cute AND conscious….

It’s an easy way for people to give back to the planet by supporting sustainable industries, practices and materials, while simultaneously helping to establish earth supportive industries.
